Many folks are familiar with the trans women of color empowerment project I started, Kween Culture Initiative. If not, click that link to learn more!
We had such an amazing partnership with Sephora’s “Classes for Confidence” initiative, where they provide spaces for transgender women to have a gender affirming experience in the world of beauty, and learn techniques to beautify!
Because often times, access to these resources primarily benefit a specific socio-economic class of people, I worked with Sephora to provide a space specifically for trans women of color- who weren’t new in their transition to womanhood, but would definitely benefit from a safe space to learn techniques on hyperpigmentation, skin care, and ethnic skincare and make up application.
WE HAD A BLAST!
The artists at the Sephora Union Street store treated us like true kweens! LOL. They were amazingly talented, and gave us so much knowledge and a chance to play.
Needless to say, we all spent our coins on the products we got a chance to demo, and I fell in love with Huda Beauty cosmetics all over again.
From finally using Color IQ– Sephora’s electronic way of scanning different areas of your skin to color match you with all relative products they carry in different brands, to learning that at 28, I should indeed, invest in an eye cream. The artists, the energy, and the overall experience made me feel so beautiful, and our girls loved the experience!
Thank you SEPHORA!
